Is that any possible way to make Galaxy S4 4K supported right now? Or to say, is that any means to import 4K to Android devices for playback? To tell you the truth, if you only want to play 4K video on Galaxy S4 or other high-end Android devices like HTC One, Xperia Z, etc., here is a possible way: search Google Play for a third-party video player called the MX Player. This may be the only one Android app that's said to support 4K playback with the help of new H/W decoder. Some users have made some test, and proved it is true. You can check the Galaxy S4 4K UHD video test below.
However, there're limitations within the MX Player: 1. since Android phones don't natively support 4K playback, most of the time, MX Player cannot play 4K video on Galaxy S4/Android devices smoothly (as you can see in the test video below); 2. it doesn't support some video format such as .flv and .wmv. In this regard, what should you do? Well, in these cases, you can: a) downscale 4K to 1080P for alternative since there will not be any distinct difference between 4K and 1080P while playing on a 5-inch screen; b) convert the unaccepted 4K video to MX Player supported video format by using a smart 4K Video Converter or 4K Video Converter for Mac. Below is a step-by-step guide to show you how:
Preparation: first of all, download and install the 4K Video Converter as per your need. This guide is based on Mac platform, but the operations for Windows is almost the same as below. Just feel free to continue reading this guide.
Run the 4K Video Converter, and then directly drag & drop your 4K video onto the main interface of the program. You can add several files at a time.
If you want to preserve the original 4K quality and playback in MX Player, you should choose a suitable output format in the "HD Video" tab. Whereas you need to downscale 4K to 1080P for smoothly playback on Galaxy S4 or other Android devices, you can choose the optimal output presets within the "Profile" list. The smart converter will export the video with the best quality kept for your phone.
Finally, press the big green button on the lower right to launch the 4K conversion. Usually, 4K videos are large in size, so please be more patient for the conversion.
