It's always cool having a book that reads itself to you. However, compare to the amount of common ebooks', there are less audiobooks. Chances are that there's no audiobook version of your favorite book. Is there a workaround that helps? Is it possible to convert common ebooks into audiobook via some apps like Siri?
Obviously, yes, you can turn books into audiobooks easily by using certain apps; but no, Siri is not the ideal assistant for such conversion -- Siri just speak out individual passages from iBooks, which means you can't just sit back and let it read out the whole thing.
So, which app is recommended here? I found there's an app called Natural Reader works quite well. It can read out almost all kinds of ebook documents, such as Word, PDF and EPub, etc. You can even use it to read Web pages! Now I'll show you how to use this app to convert ebooks into audiobooks with ease.
After downloading (please go to: www.naturalreaders.com) the app to your iPad, launch it, and then input the book you'd like to read into the app. As mentioned above, the app supports various formats, including EPub, Word, PDF and text document, so, just add anything you like to it. One of the easiest way to import the book is to use Dropbox, and alternatively, you can also connect your iPad to your computer and sync the books via iTunes.
Now open the book within the app. You can tap the next-page icon to go to the page you'd like to begin listening. After that, click the Play button in the bottom left to get started. A Setting Up Stream pop-up appears and the audio starts playing.
While the app start speaking, the text being read out will be highlighted in blue. You can quickly move and listen to another paragraph by simply tapping on that. If you miss something, you can tap the Previous icon in the bottom right to repeat the last sentence. In the meanwhile, you can hit the Forward icon to skip forward by 15 percent of the chapter.
Tap the Settings icon. There, you can easily adjust the voice/language/speed settings as well as the text display settings like Font, Size and Paragraph, etc.
