How to Save a Wet iPhone

So far, iPhone is everywhere. It has been always showing intense interest from global consumers. According to the latest news, Apple’s flagship iPhone 5S ranked as third most popular Google search of 2013. Yes, it is really a dream mobile phone for lots of people. The chances is that, we would come across with some incidents, say, accidentally drop the beloved 5S/5C into the water! Now what? This is the last thing we would like to see. So, how on earth can we do to save the wet device? That is exactly what we are going to talk about in this passage.

Once you find yourself in such dreary situation, don’t panic. There is a big chance that you can salvage the wet iPhone by taking the proper steps.

Keep in Mind:

1.Make sure that the iPhone is switched off.

2.Keep the drown iPhone in where it is. Try not to turn it upside down or shake it to get the water out.

3.Quickly and carefully remove the cases, guards or protectors on the iPhone if possible.

4.Sop up the water on the surface of the device with a soft towel. Always remember to keep the phone in one position.

Right after you have removed the surface water of the device, it is the best to use something to absorb the moisture. To tell you what, there are some options for choice. Listed below are the best 2 in order of suitability:

1. Silica Gel

This little thing is designated to absorb water, therefore, it is extremely suitable for sucking the water out of the wet device. We can find it in clothes, newly purchased electronic goods and a lot of stuff. It is always attached with a life-saving warning: “Do not eat!” Now, what we should do is to get a handful of silica packets, put them in a plastic bag or Tupperware container and then place the wet iPhone inside. Don’t forget to seal the bag/container. Basically, it is the best to keep the iPhone right there for 24-48 hours. Try not to take the phone out and turn it on to see what happens.

2.Rice

In case that you don’t have enough silica gel packets on hand, rice will be a good option. It’s cheap and most people have it lying around. Simply put the wet iPhone in a bag which’s filled with rice, wait for about 12 hours, you will be surprised to find that the rice acts exactly like the silica packets and absorbs the moisture magically. Please note that the rice we are talking about is dry, uncooked rice instead of the microwaveable kind.

Conclusion

Stay calm, as soon as find that your iPhone is getting wet since it is not the end of the device. The key point is to resist the urge to turn the phone on. Then, dry it off by using the options introduced above. Remember to avoid heating it up unnecessarily. If you fail to achieve your goal, don’t give up, put your iPhone in a fresh bag of rice or silica gel packets ,leave it for as long as you can, one week, two weeks, three weeks, the longer the better.

Generally speaking, the higher the specs, the higher the prices will go. Needless to say, high specs are good, but when comes to the actual purchasing of a tablet PC, the budget matters a lot and other factors also count. So, what should you consider carefully before buying a tablet PC? Read the following tips to find out more.

1.Your Actual Requirement

You know what, new models of tablet PCs are released every 3-6 months, which is the tactics of manufacturers who would like to interest users with the new versions. That means, you have tons of choices. And you should think carefully about your actual requirement, do you want a tablet PC for basic usage such as, enjoying music, watching movies, playing games or the one with advanced photo/video editing features? By considering these demands, it helps to narrow down your choices and you will not be carried away by the bunches of new models.

2. Your Budget

Budget always plays an important role in the purchasing. Looking around the tablet PCs industry, the price starts from $99 to $900. Let’s say, the newest 9.7-inch iPad Air comes with a price tag of $499 while the new Microsoft Surface Pro 2 will cost you up to $899! Similarly, the Android works better with Google Services. Therefore, you have to decide what your favorite operating system is.

Therefore, don’t rush to the final decision, please check if the app is available on the Platform you are going to buy as there is no way back once you buy a Tablet PC.

Well, there are also other factors to be considered for getting a suitable tablet PC, say, the brand you like(Apple, Samsung, Sony, Acer, LG, Amazon, etc), the connectivity to the internet(3G or Wi-Fi)and more. Anyway, try to think about what comes to your mind before making your decision for purchasing a favorite tablet PC.

How to Listen to Music with Friends on Facebook

Are you a Facebook fan? What do you usually do in Facebook? “Chat with friends online, promote my blogs, play games and whatsoever,” well, it is pretty the same things most people do. As for me, I would check out what my friends have posted. If there’s someone I haven’t heard from in awhile, I might go to their page and make a comment or send a private message. But what I like the best is to listen to favorite music and sing along together with my best friends. It is such a wonderful and memorable experience, I think. You can try this by following the simple steps as below.

1.Log in Fackbook and Head to Facebook Music

First, you should log in Fackbook and then go to Facebook Music page (http://www.facebook.com/music). In there, you will find a playlist of various types of popular music which’s provided by MySpace and Saavn. You can open the music page from your Facebook wall by accessing it from the left menu under the “Apps” category.

2. Add Application to the Facebook

Now you are in the Music Page of Facebook, you can select any music that you like for playback. Soon afterwards, a small window will show up, asking you to add the service to Facebook. Please simply press the “Add to Facebook” icon at the bottom of the window. Notes: The pop-up window above is to add the MySpace application only. You will be asked again to add new apps if you want to play music from Spotify, Rdio or Saavn.

3. Enjoy the Freely Playback

After adding application to your Facebook successfully, a new tab will be opened automatically and you will be redirected to the MySpace or the Saavn player page. Once the page has been loaded, you can click the “playlist” and pick your favorite song for enjoying freely. Notes: the next time you want to start playing a song from Facebook, you will see a pop-up window asking if you would like to open a new tab/window to start playing the song.

4. Listen to music with friends

OK, it’s cool to enjoy Facebook music on your own. But sometimes, it will be of great fun to listen the same song with friends as well as chatting in real time such as discussing about the song or the singer. Would you like to do that? It’s so easy. But first and the most important, you need to check this feature if Spotify and Rdio are available in your area. After confirming, you can hover over your friend’s name (one with a music symbol next to it), then, you can get the details of the music (i.e, the name of the song) from a pop-up tab. Click the “Listen with **” button, the program will play the song automatically for you. At the same time, you can start chatting with your friend as well. Please note that you can carry out a group chat with more friends listening to the same music together. Have fun!

Guidelines on Installing Flash Player for Android on Jelly Bean Devices

Jelly Bean devices such as Galaxy S3/4, Sony Xperia SP, HTC One, Sony Xperia Z, and Nexus 4 are enjoying a hot market in the recent years. Some users even rely on those Jelly Bean mobile phones or tablets as the main entertainment tool. But the bad news coming from Adobe frustrated many users soon afterwards. The news said that there would be no support for Flash in Android Jelly Bean, because the new streaming technology HTML5 doesn’t need Flash player to play videos, as Adobe claimed. Well, it may be far-fetched to say so since HTML5 is not matured enough to be used by all websites. The fact is that some websites are still using Flash instead of HTML5. Therefore, it is a tricky problem for the users who want to access contents on these websites.

As a matter of fact, we can get around the issue by installing Flash player for Android devices manually. Listed in the below is the full-fledged process for your easy reference.

Step 1. Download the Adobe Flash Player Supporting Browser.

Of all popular browsers, Mozilla Firefox and Dolphin Browser are the most stable ones capable of supporting Flash Player. Personally, I would recommend using the latter since it has got many important features. Notes: In order to install the external app smoothly, you can go to Dolphin Browser Settings and then click the Unknown sources to enable the installation.

Step 2. Download Adobe Flash Play 11.1APK

Now that you have downloaded the proper Flash Player supporting Browser, it is time to download the Adobe Flash Play 11.1 apk file which is not available on Google Play Store. You can download the APK on the XDA developers website. Notes: There is potential risk to your devices or personal information when installing the APK file. Please prepare yourself well for any consequences that may caused by the installation.

Step 3. Copy APK File to SD Card

After downloading the .apk file of Flash Player for Android, you need to copy it to your Android devices’ SD card.

Step 4. Install APK on Android Device

Open your device and create a new file manager. The, browse to the location where you save the APK file, select it and install it.

Step 5.Enable Flash Player on Browser.

The last thing you should do is to enable flash player on the browser you chose. You can click the browser’s setting to look for the option that activates Flash Player on your Jelly Bean device.

OK, everything has been done. Adobe Flash player for Android is now running on your Jelly Bean device. You can hang on any websites freely including the Flash-based ones. Last but not least, if you have got some Flash SWF video files on your computer and would like to play SWF on Samsung Galaxy S or other Jelly Bean devices, you need to break the format limitation by the third-party SWF Video Converter.

How to Play Streaming Flash Video on Kindle Fire

“Is there a way to download a flash player for the Kindle Fire HD? It is quite frustrating to not have access to streaming online videos.” — Rachael E. Smith said on http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle/

We all know that Adobe has stopped the support for its Flash on Android devices since August 2012, which is the main reason that the 2nd Generation Amazon Kindle Fire and the Fire HD models cannot play Flash anymore (note that all Kindle Fires are Android devices). Adobe did this because HTML5 gradually takes the place of Flash in playing online videos. However, HTML5 has some way to go before totally replacing Flash. Additionally, many video providers haven’t made the transition from Flash to HTML5 yet, and 75% web videos are still viewed using Flash. That makes it tough Kindle Fire fans to access Flash contents without a workaround.

Many Kindle users complain that they have no idea how to play Flash on Kindle Fire, and they have tried to search Google for the Flash player for Kindle Fire. To tell you the truth, currently, there’re two ways that you can adopt so as to watch online video on Kindle Fire:

1: Install Adobe Flash Player on Kindle Fire

2: Use Amazon’s Experimental Streaming Viewer

Install Adobe Flash Player on Kindle Fire

Actually, there’s no better way than installing Flash Player back on Kindle Fire. I mean, to install an earlier version of Flash, and install an earlier version of the Dolphin Browser which still supports Flash on Android. Simple enough, if Kindle support Flash again, all problems will be solved, right? So, how can we manage this? Well, do the following steps:

Do the following on the Kindle Fire HD or Kindle Fire 2:

  • Go to the ‘Home’ screen.
  • Swipe down (lightly pressing and pulling down) from the top of the screen.
  • That gets you the Quick Settings Menu.
  • Click on “More” at the top right.
  • Go down the Settings list to “Device” and click on that.
  • Choose to “Allow Installation of Applications From unknown sources.”

(Amazon allows this, while Barnes and Noble doesn’t, on the Nooks)

Installation files end in “.apk”

Then download and tap to install, to your Kindle Fire 2/HD, the files at the following links, with your new Kindle Fire 2 or Kindle Fire HD:

  1. the free file manager app, ES File Explorer

(It’s useful also to get Easy Installer, which looks only for install-files and then shows them to you so that you can choose which one to install. If you have any problems installing Flash Player, be sure to get and use Easy Installer.)

  2. the specific Adobe Flash file offered at XDA Developers Forum
  3. and also
  4. the Dolphin browser (v8.5.1), identified in the forum post as “APK Download,” which supports that specific Adobe Flash Player file.

(I actually use the latest Dolphin browser HD (v9.2.0), which also works for me with the older special Adobe Flash Player file — I get the latest Dolphin HD from http://wwww.1mobile.com - To use the app store, you download its store app! which works like the Amazon app). The Dolphin makers continue to update that browser; HOWEVER, the one file that’s recommended at the Amazon Kindle forum is the v8.5.1 linked to above, so it’s better to just get v8.5.1 linked above to be sure.)

Once an install file (.apk) downloads, you’ll receive a Notification that it’s been downloaded. Then, do the following:

  1. When you receive notification that the Adobe Flash Player is downloaded,

run or launch the ES File Explorer app (or run Easy Installer).

  2. Look in the “Downloads” folder if an app doesn’t auto-install.
  3. You should see the Dolphin HD browser icon.
  4. Tap it to install the browser.
  5. Do the same for the Adobe Flash Player file.

Dolphin HD Browser settings

When you’ve launched the browser, the usual Android Menu icon (it’s square and looks like an air conditioner or a washboard) can be tapped to bring up several options.

  1. Tap on “More” (it has 3 lines).
  • Then tap on the 3rd option, which is “Settings.”
  • Go down to “Web Content” and tap “Flash Player” — the choices are:
    • Always on (videos will auto-run - easiest but it’ll slow down some page loads and sometimes Flash routines will cause crashes, one reason Steve Jobs hated it).
    • On Demand (You’ll tap a blank rectangle — or one with a down-arrow in it — to have it run only when you want that.)
    • Off (I see no reason to use this.)
  • Other settings - ones I use, in case you wonder what might work:

    . Auto-fit Pages: ON

. Default Zoom: 200% (Close up)

. Open Pages in Overview: ON

  • ALSO, make sure Javascript setting, just below Flash, is On or Enabled.

Then, after installing the app files and making sure that the Flash setting is set to run Flash either Always or On Demand, you’ll be able to switch to the Dolphin HD browser app when needing to see a video requiring Flash.

Use Amazon’s Experimental Streaming Viewer

Well, the solution above seems to be a little complicated, and additionally, installing a side-loaded APK means taking risks with your devices and/or personal information. Therefore, many Kindle fans don’t prefer to do that. Good news is that, in answer to its customer’s pleas, Amazon has actually developed the Experimental Streaming Viewer and integrated it into Silk to allow playback of some Flash video. That means you can still view Adobe Flash videos from a limited number of websites with the experimental streaming viewer.

The experimental streaming viewer converts Flash videos into a format that the Silk browser can understand. If Flash videos are detected on a compatible website, a notification will appear at the bottom of the screen. If you choose to view Flash content using the experimental streaming viewer, content for the Flash-enabled site (including any SSL content) will pass through Amazon’s servers if Silk’s cloud accelerator feature is enabled. Individual identifiers like IP and MAC addresses are not associated with browsing history, and are only collected for technical troubleshooting.

However, Amazon is yet to reveal how far it’ll take the experiment but said it has broadened Flash-friendly access to around a dozen sights at the time of writing. So, you may still need to wait for a while till they perfect the viewer.

Three Easy Way to Play SWF Flash on iPhone 5 Freely

For a very long time, Apple products especially its iPhone series (range from the first generation to iPhone 5) have always been come out on top with thousands of millions fans. iPhone 5, as the latest version, is really something we should talk about. Comparing with the model iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 has got a larger display screen with a higher video resolution. It can be run for much longer thanks to the better quality battery. The biggest highlight of iPhone 5 is that it is based on the iOS 6 operating system which has got lots of advantages over the iOS 5. Despite so many wonderful new features being added to iPhone 5, iPhone 5 fans will still be disappointed. Why? Simply because something’s missing in iPhone 5—the SWF Flash support! From the first iPhone model to the latest one, iPhone users have been hoping that Apple would add the support to SWF Flash on its products just like Samsung Galaxy S3 and Nokia Lumia 900 do; however, all that they get is nothing but disappointment. Since iPhone 5 fails to support Adobe Flash, it is a tough task when comes to the playback of Flash on iPhone 5 freely.

Actually, there are three ways to play SWF Flash video files on iPhone 5. They are listed and explained as below.

1. Using the Apple App

Firstly, you can use the Skyfire, which’s approved by Apple, serving as a Flash video-enabled web browser for iPhone(iPhone 5 included). You can purchase it in iTunes APP Store and it will help to convert the SWF Flash files to HTML5, allowing you to view the content freely. Unluckily, it cannot support all of the Flash content, say, the game Flash video files.

2. Jail Breaking

To conduct the jail breaking, please follow the below instructions: install OpenSSH -> download, install and set up Cyber duck for Mac or WinSCP for Windows -> download Frash-0.02.deb file -> navigate to /var/root/Media directory and create a folder named “Cydia” -> create another folder named Auto Install inside Cydia -> copy the Frash-0.02.deb file to folder Auto Install -> restart and enjoy Flash on iPhone 5.

3.Convert SWF Flash to Video via the third-party software

If you would like to play SWF Flash video files directly on iPhone 5 with the original video/audio/image kept, it is the best to transcode SWF to the acceptable video format by iPhone 5 like MP4 with the help of a professional SWF Video Converter. The steps of the conversion is quite simple: import the SWF Flash videos, choose output video format, customize the video files optionally and start the conversion.

How to Keep Your Mobile from Touch Screen Smudge Attack

Smatphone is playing an indispensable part in people’s daily life. “My Nexus One is like clothes to me without which, I feel like a fish out of water”, said Frank jokingly. We can see how important a Smatphone is, if a little exaggerated. Like most of users, Frank uses a PIN code by by drawing patterns, however, couples of weeks ago, he read a piece of news and learned that the password could be attained eaisly by the so-called dreaded “Smudge Attack”. “It really shocked me, I’ve never thought about that before,” said Frank with raised eyebrows.

In fact, the Smudget Attack is a scientific method investigated by American researchers about two years ago, it was basically used to discern the assword pattern of a touchscreen devices such as smart phones, tablet computers and more. Generally, the Smudget Attack relies largely on the oily smudget left on the devices, for example, using the smart phone while eating a hamburger or fried chicken, naturally, the oil of the food will remain on the screen of the devices. Holding the smart phone up to the sufficient light, the finger grease can be seen easily and clearly, even more frighteningly, the input pattern or PIN code can be figured out by careful observation, with the chances of success up to 90% under the proper condition. When comes to the Android phones, this is particularly obvious. “We showed that in many situations full or partial pattern recovery is possible, even with smudge ‘noise’ from simulated application usage or distortion caused by incidental clothing contact.”, said Henderson, a researcher of The University of Pennsylvania. However, users don’t need to worry about this too much since the the premise of using Smudge Attack by an attacker is to access your smart phone first. It’s suggested to use a PIN code rather than drawing a pattern, so as to reduce the chance of presenting a threat to the Smudge Attack, but, it is not 100% safe with potential risk still exsits depending on the strength of the PIN code as well as the cleanliness of the screen. “It is a very easy and practical way to prevent your smart phone from the Smudget Attack by cleaning the screen after using.” Henderson said.

On the other hand, in order to mitigate the Smudget Attack, it is recommended to install an application called WhisperCore onto the smart phone. It is a security app specailly designed to tackle the Smudget Attack problem by reminding users wipe the smudges off the phones. After using the smart phone, WhisperCore will show a pattern with all of the numbers in a vertical column, forcing users to swipe downward once the correct pin has been entered. If they don’t like to use a pin-code unlock, after the correct pattern has been input, the Smudget Attack will present users a screen which’s full of stars, they can enter the homescreen of the smart phone unless ecch of the highlighted star has been swiped, the final result is that: the unlock pattern cannot be seen at all. Besides, this app can also encrypts the data partition at with an option to encrypt the contents of your SD card.

So far, the WhisperCore is for free and only available for Nexus One and the Nexus S, but it’s said that it would support much more smart phones and other devices in the coming future.
